Joe Cole insists his Chelsea departure has not ended a quest for silverware and that he feels confident an already impressive haul will be added to at Anfield.

Officially introduced to the media at a press conference on Tuesday the midfielder talked of the promise Liverpool have and the changes made at the club.

"Our aim from the start of the season has got to be trying to win everything we are in competition for," the 28-year-old told reporters.

"Last season was disappointing but there's been a lot of changes. There's so much positivity around Melwood at the moment that I wouldn't have thought I had come to a club that by their standards had a poor season last year.

"I think we've got the squad and just by training without everyone back, there's a lot of quality here.

Examining the potential future under Roy Hodgson Cole added: "Everything is set in place for a successful spell at the club and I wanted to be at the start of something fresh and new.

"It's a new chapter with a new manager, new backroom staff and I'm just a small part of that. I just want to help this team and to help us achieve something."
"I'm excited to work with Roy. He's shown in the last two-and-a-half years what a fantastic manager he is."

"It was important that I went to a club where I felt like the manager wanted me and I'm just chomping at the bit to start and get myself fit.

"You only have to come and watch training; it's been sharp and you just want to get going.

The main thing for the club would be to win the title but we'll keep building and take it slow.

"It's been a long time since the club won the title but speaking to everyone here it seems that it's pointing in the right direction."

Danny Wilson and Milan Jovanovic were also introduced

Wilson acknowledged his career was taking a huge turn which could prove difficult but relished the prospect.

"Coming down here is a big step up and I understand that and the style of football is a bit different," the 18-year-old defender said.

"At the end of the day, it's just a game of football.

"I think coming down here, I just want to do the best I can. I'm not setting myself any targets or games to play, I'm just going to take it as it comes.

"If I start games then great. If not, I'll work that little bit harder to get into the team."

Serbian forward Jovanovic echoed the comments of both Cole and Wilson though struggled to express his emotions.

"This is a big step in my career and I am proud. But my English is very poor and I cannot explain all my feelings," he said.

"I am looking towards the future and I will try to bring something to the football club."
